Copper Tibetan Buddhist Newari Script Prayer Wheel Handcrafted in Nepal

Copper prayer wheel includes gemstone decorations and Newari script. Newari, also known as Nepal Bhasa, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by the Newar people, the indigenous inhabitants of Nepal Mandala, which consists of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding regions in Nepal.

Prayer wheels are used to accumulate wisdom and merit and to purify negativity. The practitioner most often spins the wheel clockwise, as the direction in which the mantras are written is that of the movement of the sun across the sky. The prayer wheel is affixed with a chain terminating in a metal weight allowing it to be spun by a slight rotation of the wrist. Prayer Wheels are a manifestation of the Compassion Buddha's holy speech.

The handle on this prayer wheel is made of wood. A handcrafted gift made in Nepal by global fair trade artisans. Measures 10.5" L.
